Parmida Ziaei is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Iran.

Parmida Ziaei is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist and designer born and raised in Iran. Her work spans interior, architectural, immersive, and entertainment environments, as well as scenic and production design for leading theatres including The 5th Ave Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Village Theatre, Union Arts Center, Seattle Children’s Theatre, and internationally with Artscape Theatre Centre of Cape Town. Beyond design, she performs, choreographs, and teaches as a movement artist, and has also contributed as a consultant and curator for organizations such as Oregon Shakespeare Festival, On the Boards, Base Art Space, and ArtsWA. Parmida is the co-founder of Seda Iranian Theatre Ensemble in Seattle, producing work by and for MENA communities in Seattle and beyond. Parmida has been the recipient of multiple residencies including the 2022 Northwest Creator Residency at Village Theatre.

As a performer and choreographer:

Parmida often combines her training in various dance forms including Classical Persian dance and contemporary movement to create a unique movement style that represents her merging identities and explores resilience, culture, and social-political issues. In her teaching and choreography work, she is interested in cultivating and nurturing how each person's body embodies movement informed by their experiences to tell a story, express emotions, and show resilience. Parmida wrote and performed her solo play, Dancing Beyond the Veil, as part of Macha Theatre's 17 minute stories in 2020.
