JOURNEY

Journey is a performance, centered around the concept of immigration but through a more universal and fluid lens. Choreographed by Parmida Ziaei, Journey has been performed at protests for Woman, Life, Freedom movement of Iran in 2022-23, at O-jak Bridge Festival in Nov 2022, at Artists of Color Expo and Symposium in April 2022 and originally at the Making Waves Festival with Sound Theatre Company in Oct 2021 in Seattle.

Journey explores what it means to leave something behind – a loved one, a home, or our past selves. It’s about what happens when you decide to stay, and what happens when you leave. The performance aims to question our concept of immigration more globally and compassionately, and also leaves room for the audiences to simply feel the emotions though movement and visuals. Journey is dedicated to the brave women of Iran fighting for freedom.
